We offer D&D Intro Classes and other RPG System Intro Classes!
Dungeons & Dragons - D&D has been a fan favorite for generations. D&D was released in 1974 and in 1997 was acquired by Wizards of the Coast (a local company based in Renton, WA!). D&D is the most popular Role Playing Game (RPG) ever created. To sum it up, D&D is an immersive fantasy story-telling game where players are led through a storyline created by the Dungeon Master (DM) by role-playing as unique characters with varying powers and skills.
Other Role-Playing Game (RPG) Systems - There THOUSANDS of RPGs, small & large systems, short & long form games, a wide variety of themes and storylines. We host Intro Classes for a few of these systems. We rotate through teaching a few systems outside of D&D such as Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Blades in the Dark, etc. Occassionally we host learn-to-play classes for short or mini one-session RPGs.
With so much history and so many options, it can be intimidating to figure out where to start with learning a new RPG, picking the right system and desired experience, and finding a RPG group to join. This is why Blue Highway Game offers intro RPGS classes for ages 13 and up! Kids ages 10-12 may attend if accompanied by a participating adult.

Role Playing Games
RPGs are about storytelling using world-building and character creation, where there only limits are really ones imagination. Different RPGs use a variety of supplies to play from dice and minis to storyline and guide books. All you need to jump into a game is a group to play with, a basic understanding of the game systems rules, some basic supplies, and an imagination ready to go on an adventure!
Dungeon & Dragons (D&D):
"The Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game is about storytelling in worlds of swords and sorcery. Like games of make-believe, D&D is driven by imagination. It’s about picturing a crumbling castle in a darkening forest and imagining how a fantasy adventurer might react to the challenges that scene presents.
In this fantasy world, the possibilities are limitless.
Unlike a game of make-believe, D&D gives structure to the stories—a way of determining the consequences of the adventurers’ actions. Players roll dice to determine whether their attacks hit or miss and whether their characters can scale a cliff, roll away from the strike of a magical lightning bolt, or pull off some other dangerous task. Anything is possible, but the dice make some things more probable than others."

List of supplies needed to start playing D&D:
- Dice Set: D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, and D20 (most pre-made dice sets also include an additional D10)
- Character Sheet
- Spell Sheet
- Copy of D&D Basic Game Rules
- Writing Utensil
*Many players enjoy using character miniatures during their D&D sessions, however, minis are not required to play.
